Those with even a passing interest in British horse racing will be well aware of the sporting spectacle that is the Aintree Grand National. Running well before any of us were born, it’s a race that is part of the fabric of the nation and is watched both here in the UK, and around the world by 500-600 million people each year – and let’s not forget the thousands watching the action on course. The Grand National has made household names out of the likes of horses Red Rum (three times winner) and Tiger Roll (back to back winner in 2018 – 2019), jockeys AP McCoy and Rachael Blackmore (first female winner) and trainers Ginger McCain, Gordon Elliott and many more besides.
There is such history of the Grand National, and as they say it’s not all abuot the winning, it’s the taking part. As in, there is such a wealth of history, and battling spirit to the National that it’s good to leaf back through time and highlight those efforts via the results each year. Here at Grand National Results, we list the full results from previous Grand National races, and build a picture of the race that particular year and those taking part.
What better way to start than a look at the very first Grand National Result (from 1839) and latest result (from 2025).
